Non-living Rigs
Project type
Rigging
Date
May 2022 - October 2022
Role
Rigger
Software Used
Autodesk Maya
The project contains the rigs of various non-living things, such as, car, Pixar lamp, a chair
Lamp Rig. The rig is created using different controllers and orient and point constraints for the major part. IK Handles are used to bend the lamp at the big "elbow" and the small "elbow".
Chair Rig. It uses a combination of constraints for the rig to come into action. The backrest part uses orient constraint limited to only one axis to make it rotate accordingly.
The controller behind the backrest uses point constraint to make the backrest go up/down, and has its values limited so that the controller does not go beyond the necessary field of action. The seat has an orient constraint, making it possible to rotate. The lever has a rotation constraint, and has a limit to its values, making it move the upper part of the chair up/down.
The controller for the wheel can rotate and translate the wheels as a whole. A script is written to make the wheels rotate individually in the right direction when the wheel control is translated.
The controllers for the cushions make them go in/out, for situations where the animator might have to animate the cushion inflation. This makes use of the point constraint by taking into consideration the necessary vertices of these cushions.
